This week, we learned how to apply Rolle’s Theorem, the Mean Value Theorem, and the First Derivative Test to different problems. First of all, you need to know when to use all of them. Rolle’s Theorem tells you if there’s AT LEAST one max or min, but it doesn’t tell you how many or what they are while The Mean Value Theorem tells you that the slope of a secant line equals the slope of a tangent line between a and b and The First Derivative Test tells you were on the graph is there a max or min by telling you were the graph is decreasing or increasing. Using each of these different theorems is not hard at all. They just require practice and knowing when to use them so everything is memory of different forms of questions basically.
